Abhyanga is a specialized Ayurvedic therapy

Abhyanga is the ayurvedic practice of body massage with medicated herbal oil in a specific manner, rooted in classical Ayurvedic texts.

This full-body massage is traditionally done with Dosha-specific oils to help balance Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, improve circulation, release toxins (Ama), and rejuvenate the body and mind.

Procedure

    Choose oil -Select an Ayurvedic oil appropriate to body type (Vata, Pitta, or Kapha). Gently warm the oil by placing the container in warm water.

    Typically done in 7 Common Positions for full body coverage

    Pre-Treatment Preparation

      1. Sitting.

      2. Supine (face up)

      3. Left lateral (lying on left side)

      4. Right lateral

      5. Prone (face down)

      6. Sitting again

      7. Finishing seated or lying

    • Start from the head:-Oil applied to scalp, gentle circular massage.
    • Face, ears, and neck:-Light strokes upward on face; circular around ears.
    • Upper body (arms, shoulders, chest):-Arms: Long strokes from shoulder to wrist.
    • Joints: Circular strokes on elbows and shoulders.
    • Abdomen:- Circular strokes clockwise (direction of digestion).
    • Back:- Long strokes along the spine, circular on lower back.
    • Lower body (legs, feet) - Long strokes on thighs and calves. Special attention to soles (activates marma points).
